Uncle Louie's Pizza

Tried Uncle Louies for the first time two weeks ago and OMG the food is delicious! Had to have it again so we had it Saturday and everything was fantastic. Pizza is so good, penne vodka yum, rice balls amazing, chicken parm yummy and everything else we had was so good. Can't wait to have food from here again!!! Our go to place for sure from now on!!

I was in New Jersey for a short work trip and decided I wanted to get a taste for “Jersey style pizza”. I’m an out of towner from St. Louis Missouri close to “The Hill”(a well known predominately Italian area) with endless choices of authentic Italian restaurants. With that being said I was excited to get a taste for the hyped up Jersey style pizza. When I arrived at uncle Louie’s, I was greeted by the owner at the counter. I explained where I was from and told him I was excited to try their pizza. He asked me what I wanted and when I told him I was thinking about Canadian bacon and pineapple. In a friendly way he told me “that’s for yuppies” lol and to sit down and that he would get started on my pizza, explaining that he wasn’t going to be making that for me, and that if I wanted to explore how they do pizza, he knew what I wanted. The server brought me a drink and after a short wait the owner brought my pizza out. He explained that he made me Grandmas Special and left me to enjoy. The presentation of the pizza was spectacular/truly a piece of art, but I normally like a lot of different toppings, so when I saw grandmas special(cheese only) I thought it might be a let down. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The sauce is lights out and the dough is unique in the best way possible. It’s difficult to explain but it was the most simple but delicious pizza I have ever had in my life. I ended my meal with desert, some kind of lemon cake which was also phenomenal. If I get the chance to go back to New Jersey again, Uncle Louie’s will be my first stop for food and Grandmas Special is a guaranteed choice for me. I rarely leave reviews anywhere but I was blown away by my meal and had to share with everyone. Uncle Louie’s does pizza right!

Uncle Louie's has been a family favorite for years now, we even buy our dough from them when we want to make our homemade foccacia. But today I want to talk of all things, a tossed salad I had the other day that was superb. It was so perfect, crisp and delicious to the point of perfection. Thanks Uncle Louie's!

Oh you must do Louie's. We were in need of lunch traveling from Rhode Island to Ohio. We first tried a search of restaurants on Google Maps and another establishment was suggested. I got a 2nd opinion on Yelp. Uncle Louies came up near by. We immediately knew Louie's would be a step up from the Google suggestion. The hospitality was over the top, David asked where we were from since we did not sound like a local. I replied O hia' and explained how "car" is properly pronounced (not "kaar"). David, a grandson of Louis, answered all our cuisine questions, dropped off a couple sample slices and pepperoni rolls. That got our attention. Our two pies came quickly. The house specialty, a thin but not cracker crust, no grease, loaded with fresh meat and veggies pizza was a knock out. Alll agreed it was one of the best pizzas ever. The Grandma was an attempt at deep dish but less impressive. Dont take us wrong, it was still very good since we could simply eat the sauce as a soup. The pepperoni rolls were so good, we bought 1 to go along with the broccoli and spinach roll and garlic knots with sauce fo later. Our server was a delightful young gal who kept our glasses full and checked on us appropriately.

First off, shout out to Bree, the sweetest, most attentive, and most patient waitress! Uncle Louie's is the BEST! We actually found it years ago on a search for "best pizza in Bergen County" during the pandemic and we have driven half an hour to dine there weekly nearly every week since. They are so kind with bringing rolls and bruschetta to the table to start, and, the appetizers, mains, and pies (buffalo calamari, chicken parmigiana, and Uncle Louie's - a spicy deep dish are our go-to's) really do live up to the hype.

Delicious margarita with excellent crust. Grandma had perfect garlic flavor in the sauce. Broccoli cheese pinwheel was nice and light. Crust, sauce and cheese blend on plain slice was amazing. This is NJ pizza at its best. Everything was excellent. Slices are generous. The ones in the pictures are single slices cut in half.

Amazing pizza with perfectly balanced sauce and crisp and light crust. The crust is not doughy or yeasty-just perfect flavor. Grandma and grandpa slices are delicious! The owner is so friendly, helpful and patient with describing each type of slices available. Many are very creative. Must try the pinwheels. They are light and full of flavor. The interior of the restaurant was recently updated and is comfortable and looks good. Best pizza and highly recommend!
